I've made a habit of noticing when I'm in someones blind-spot and am usually prepared to take defensive measures, ie: stop/swirve, or try to speed up/slow down to get out of their blind spot. ![]() Technology, such as backup cameras and self-parking, cannot solely be used on a driving test. This will help you back up in a straight line. I've noticed this actually seems to happen quite often in Switzerland (see it happen to other people as well, not just me ), normally drivers here are quite good, but this lazy habit of not bothering to turn your neck and look over your shoulder seems to be pandemic here, and is as dangerous as any other driving mistake. Turn your head over your right shoulder and look through the back windshield instead of relying on the rearview and/or side mirrors, or camera, which may not show all hazards. I had to slam on the breaks, swirve onto the shoulder, etc. ![]() In the last week I had the same thing happen to me three times: I'm in the left lane, and just happen to be in someones "blind spot", they put their signal on and start to change into the left lane right into my car. (I thought every driving school teaches you to look over your shoulder, but maybe not.) When changing lanes on the autobahn, PLEASE LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER after you put your blinker on and BEFORE you start to change lanes.
